Licence Entitlements

Provisional Licence | |
Age 16: | You are entitled to ride a moped (49cc)
with a design speed of 30mph. You must display regulation size L-plates to the front and rear of your bike and have a valid DL196 (CBT) certificate. |
Age 17: | Providing you have the provisional motorcycle entitlement on your licence (cat A), you are entitled to ride up to a 125cc motorcycle. You must display regulation size L-plates to the front and rear of your bike and have a valid DL196 (CBT) certificate. |
Full Car Licence | |
You are entitled to ride a motorcycle not exceeding
125cc providing your licence has the provisional motorcycle entitlement (cat A)
Provisional entitlements are on the paper counterpart of your licence. You must
display regulation size L-plates to the front and rear of your bike and have a
valid DL196 (CBT) certificate. A full car licence also gives full moped entitlement although anyone obtaining their licence on or after 01.02.2001 must validate with a CBT certificate. We would always advise to take some training before riding out for the first time. |
