Yorkshire is a good place to be looking for work.
In the last few months there have been lots of vacancies
in Yorkshire for carpenters, joiners, electricians, plumbers and bricklayers.
The construction industry also seems to need more managers and clerical
workers. Jobcentre Plus reports that employers are having difficulty finding
good people for all these kinds of jobs.
Some people think that there will be fewer jobs in
Yorkshire's construction industry after 2004, but it is also true that a lot of
construction workers are coming up to retirement age so that there should still
be opportunities in this industry. National shortages, particularly in the
south, are so great that if you are prepared to travel there are well-paid jobs
in the construction industry. It may well be worth considering this as a
short-term option to get experience. |
